College Football 27 July 2026 Title Update — MTX Removal & Patch Notes
EA Sports responded to #CFBPlayDontPay backlash with a rapid post-launch patch cycle. The July 11, 2026 title update removes all paid progression from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty, restores Coach XP speed presets, and ships gameplay and mode fixes EA previewed on the official forums. July 9: Worldwide Standard Edition launch. Community backlash intensifies over Coach XP Accelerators and removed offline progression sliders.
July 9–10: EA publishes a forum response acknowledging coach progression feedback and previews title-update changes.
July 10 (evening): EA announces on social media that all paid progression options will be removed from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty during server maintenance.

Paid Progression Removed (RTG & Online Dynasty)
Effective with the July 11 server maintenance, EA removed all paid progression options from:
- Road to Glory — single-player career mode
- Online Dynasty — connected franchise play
EA's statement acknowledged the community view that paid progression "missed the mark" and did not add intended value. Offline Dynasty also benefits from the broader progression patch, but the explicit MTX removal targets RTG and online franchise wallets.
College Points wallet catch: Players with unused College Point balances were told to spend them before the update — points could no longer be applied to RTG or Dynasty after maintenance. If you missed the window, those balances are stranded outside those modes.
EA noted that future live-service plans for CFB 28+ aim for "greater transparency and communication" — paid progression may return in different forms later, but CFB 27 RTG and Online Dynasty no longer sell coach or player XP boosts as of this patch.
Coach XP Speed Settings (Restored)
The same title update reintroduces three Coach XP speed presets in Dynasty league settings (offline and online):
- Career — 1.0×: Authentic baseline aligned with EA's long-term career arc design.
- Simulation — 1.25×: Moderate acceleration for players who sim large portions of the schedule.
- Casual — 1.5×: Fastest option in this patch — EA compares it to CFB 26's "Faster" setting, not the old "Fastest" slider.
Where to change it: Dynasty hub → League Settings → Coach Progression. Applies to existing dynasties without restarting your franchise.

Road to Glory Progression Notes
RTG progression still centers on weekly XP through gameplay, rating upgrades, and the fitness-based Weekly Agenda — not legacy training sliders.
- Wear & Tear toggle: Disabling Wear & Tear reduces rewarded XP to offset ignoring player health management.
- Depth chart fix: EA targeted a bug where edge rushers failed to trigger position battles and depth-chart movement — corrected in this title update.
- No Fast/Fastest player sliders: Casual 1.5× applies to Dynasty coaches, not RTG skill-point pacing. Plan around the Weekly Agenda loop.
Gameplay Balance Fixes
EA's forum preview listed gameplay tuning arriving with or shortly after the July 11 patch:
- Pancake blocks: Reducing excessive pancake blocks — a launch-meta complaint where QBs and safeties were frequently flattened on run plays.
- Switch Stick delay: Fixing defensive Switch Stick timing delay that made user-controlled defense feel sluggish.

Dynasty Mode Fixes
EA confirmed a recruiting logic fix in this update cycle:
- High-rated recruit offers: Correcting cases where top prospects were passed over for scholarship offers despite strong interest — a launch-week Dynasty pain point for users running tight recruiting boards.

Community Campaign: #CFBPlayDontPay
The hashtag #CFBPlayDontPay (and variants like #CFBPlayNotPay) organized creators and players against offline microtransactions in a $70 title. Steam review scores and social pressure pushed EA to respond within days — first with Coach XP sliders, then with full paid-progression removal.
As of July 13, the community split between players satisfied by MTX removal and those wanting faster RTG pacing or permanent guarantees that offline modes stay purchase-free in future entries.
